Athletic Club 3-Sporting Club de Portugal 1

On 9 May Athletic Club will dispute the UEFA Europa League Final in Bucharest against Atlético Madrid, after having defeated Sporting Club of Portugal. Such as things are, there’s only one more step to crystallize the European dream. That which will be disputed in Rumania by our team in its history after that of 1977 against the Italian team Juventus, on that occasion in two matches. It is, as mentioned, a season in which Athletic Club will be in two finals.

In a vibrant match in which the fans and the team once again walked together, Susaeta in the minute 17 opened up the scoreboard with a volley with his left after a let by Llorente with his chest; Van Wolfswinkel drew in the 44th and before the break Ibai scored the 2-1, also from a pass by Llorente. In the second half Athletic’s superiority was manifested, although the third and definitive goal did not arrive until the minute 88 when tides turned and a cross from Ibai was introduced into the net by Llorente.

Thirty-five years later, once again another European Final, and in addition without no sanctioned players; a meet, the one in Bucharest, in which at least 10,000 rojiblanco followers will be present. One more page, cheerful in this case, in the history of our entity and overwhelming in our country and many other places of the planet.

A collective success that does not stop the calendar and on Sunday we face Zaragoza with the challenge to continue opting for European places via the Liga.

Meanwhile, we must only congratulate all those that make up the rojiblanca family and remind everyone that the European dream is still alive. We have one last station: Bucharest.
