Vencedor and Nico Williams make their Spain Under-21 debuts
Vencedor started, while Nico Williams came off the bench with 10 minutes to go
Athletic Club youngsters Unai Vencedor and Nico Williams made their first official appearances for the Spanish Under-21 side during the fixture against Russia on Friday night.
The central midfielder was in the starting XI and our no.30 was subbed on in the 80th minute. Goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala was also in the squad list but didn’t get on the pitch and will have to wait until Tuesday’s qualifier against Lithuania to make a potential debut.
With their involvement in Friday’s 2023 European Under-21 Championships qualifier, the two players join Unai Simón, Unai Núñez, Iñigo Martínez, Iker Muniain, Iñaki Williams, Óscar de Marcos and Oihan Sancet as current Lions who have turned out for Spain’s Under-21s at some point in their careers.
