Ernesto Valverde has called up 21 players for Monday's trip to Cádiz CF. Julen Agirrezabala, Iñigo Martinez, Mikel Balenziaga and Yuri Berchiche are unavailable due to injury.
Recent signing Ander Herrera will not travel with the team despite completing a first training session with his new teammates. Ander Iru and Aitor Paredes have been brought up from Bilbao Athletic as cover.
Valverde's comments
Ernesto Valverde's stressed the clash in Cadiz will be "an important test" of the Lions' ambition, urging his side to apply the same fight and desire as they do at San Mamés.

Cádiz have had a busy summer, bringing in six new players so far: Rubén Alcaraz (midfielder, from Real Valladolid), Víctor Chust (centre-back, from Real Madrid), Joseba Zaldua (right-back, from Real Sociedad), Awer Mabil (left winger, from FC Midtylland), Fede San Emeterio (midfielder, from Real Valladolid) and Antonio Blanco (midfielder, loaned from Real Madrid).
Recent form:
It was a fairly tough pre-season for the Andalusian outfit. From their six warm-up fixtures, they won two, drew one and lost three. They’re yet to pick up a point this season after a 2-0 loss to Osasuna in Pamplona and a 0-1 home defeat against Real Sociedad last week.

Since their first LaLiga meeting in 1977/78, Cádiz and Athletic have played each other in the top-flight at total of 29 times, with the Lions recording: 16 wins, six draws and eight defeats.
As for matches played at the Nuevo Mirandilla, formerly the Ramón de Carranza, Athletic have managed five wins, four draws and six defeats.
In terms of the last five encounters between the two teams, the Zurigorri have come out on top on four occasions.
Last season's edition of this fixture turned out a five-goal thriller. Athletic were 0-3 up at half-time thanks to goals from Raúl García, Iker Muniain and Mikel Vesga, before Cádiz pulled two back in the second half.
