Athletic Club lost 2-0 against FC Barcelona. Iniesta, in the last minutes of the first half and Messi, after a doubtful penalty on Tello in the first minutes of the second, scored the goals in the match. During the game our players carried out better defensive work than offensive.

The local team prevailed with merit, from here we’d like to congratulate them on their win, whilst our team, in addition to some of the virtues that adorn their game in the present season, has demonstrated that they were able to overcome the little recovery time they had after Thursday’s match in Germany.

The bad news came when Javi Martinez was booked with a fifth yellow and that will prevent him from being present in the Liga match on Sunday, 8 April, at 18:00 hours in San Mamés against Sevilla.

Nevertheless there is an earlier commitment in La Catedral, on Thursday, 5 April, at 21:05 (C+ Liga), with greater importance if it fits, since overcoming the qualifying round against Schalke 04 our team would classify for the semi-finals of the UEL.

And to finalize, coincidently: after today’s defeat it is possible to say that Athletic Club will be disputing the UEL next season as their Copa final rivals are mathematically qualified for the Champions League. 

When the new continental challenge will begin is yet another question and its outcome will not be known until the end of the Liga and, most importantly, the match on 25 May.
