Athletic Club 6-HJK 0
Athletic Club defeated HJK Helsinki by 6-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off, with goals by Aduriz (2), Susaeta (2), Iñigo Perez and Iraola, a scoreboard that becomes highest goals scored in a home European competition match by our team, just one goal below the 1-7 of Liege.
This way, it appears as if the group phase of the continental competition is right on track, though it will have to be assured next Thursday, 30 August, at Sonera Stadium in the Finnish capital.
Our team dominated the match and with a high rate and perseverance it has managed to overcome the rival’s resistance. Aduriz, who today scored two goals in Europa League (with Valencia he scored seven in Champions), inaugurated the scoreboard and Susaeta (as the previous with a header) and Iñigo Perez, with a direct free kick, set the match downhill.
After the break Athletic Club did not allow itself to play as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and continued faithful on their path of the first 45 minutes so as to score another 3 goals (Aduriz, Susaeta and Iraola) all of them with their boots, in addition of having several other occasions.
Now the Liga returns with our visit on Monday to Vicente Calderón at 22:00 h, it’s surely not one of the easiest fixtures.
