CyD Leonesa - Bilbao Athletic

Bilbao Athletic lost 5-2 at the Estadio Reino de León, in what was their third match of the season.

On the quarter of an hour mark, Bilbao Athletic’s first good approach came after a cross from the right flank was headed in by Morcillo and cleared for a corner by the home defence.

It was precisely on the counter-attack from that corner that Kawaya scored, after an individual move that ended with a shot that Ezkieta could not reach.

After half an hour Sancet equalised after turning inside the box and scoring from the penalty spot with a powerful left-footed shot from the centre of the box. But the joy was short-lived for our club, as Luque put the León side ahead again three minutes later. With this unfavourable 2-1 lead, half-time was reached.

In the second half, in the 55th minute, Dioni widened the gap on the scoreboard after a shot from almost inside the area after receiving a pass from the right flank. And just after coming on as a substitute, the Argentinian Gudiño scored with his left foot to score the fourth in the 58th minute.

Despite the attempts to try to get back into the game, Bilbao Athletic did not have the chances to do so. In the 79th minute, a penalty scored by Dioni brought the fifth goal. And in the 85th minute, Sancet made the score 5-2 thanks to an impressive shot from outside the area that went into the goal defended by Leandro after hitting the crossbar.

The team coached by Joseba Etxeberria will play next weekend the 4th matchday at Lezama against Salamanca CF.
