Real Valladolid 2 – Athletic Club 2
Athletic Club has drawn at two goals against Real Valladolid. Guerra and Bueno set the locals ahead by the quarter hour of play, but De Marcos, before the break and Susaeta, shortly upon restart of play, have been able to equalize the match, although our team deserved more, just as occurred two matchdays ago against Real Betis. Our players were accompanied by about 1,600 fans.
The rain, gusts of wind, high balls and mainly the little pressure exerted on the rival placed the game in a worrisome scene: two-nil with 75 minutes still left, although seconds before the 2-0 Aduriz had smacked the ball on the wood.
However, the Athletic of the second half appeared to get back on track and never gave up, dominating the game for most of the remaining minutes. In fact, before the break the team already deserved somewhat more.
After the break, however, Guerra threatened with a ball to the post at the re-start of play, however, shortly after, it was Susaeta who scored the equalizer from a corner and after a couple of rebounds.
Until the conclusion, except for a clear attempt by Omar, most of the occasions have been by the rojiblancos. The locals demanded a red card for Aduriz for elbowing Marc Valiente who had to withdraw with an injury, and whom we wish a speedy recovery. On our part, there have been two possible penalty infractions, one by Sereno and another by Rueda.
In the end a two-all draw, 26 points and ten days until Espanyol visits San Mamés. We hope to continue this good streak of the second leg and be able to turn La Catedral into a fortress, especially knowing that many teams from the first leg will be paying us a visit.
