Athletic Club has defeated SD Eibar by 5-2. Aduriz (2) Sabin Merino, Laporte and Dos Santos in own goal, have been the authors of the goals for our team, whereas Borja Bastón scored both goals for the visitors.
A vibrant derby from the start and in which Eibar struck first, however, our team arrived at the interval with a comfortable 3-1 after goals scored by Aduriz, Merino and Laporte; the latter two of which came from strategic plays.
Nevertheless, in the beginning of the second half, a penalty called on Laporte (in his 100th Liga match) once again put the Gipuzkoans back in the game, but Athletic showed its superiority and the goals scored by Aduriz and the own goal brought about the definitive 5-2 against a rival that is ahead of us on the table and with which, at least, the individual goal-average has been resolved in a favourable manner.
Now it is time to set aside the Liga and concentrate on Wednesday’s difficult second leg match of the King’s Cup to later travel once again, in this case to Getafe, to retake the regularity competition.
