Athletic Club 3 – 2 Real Sociedad

Athletic Club defeated Real Sociedad 3-2 in San Mamés in the first Basque derby of the season. Muniain, Aduriz and Williams scored our goals, while Zurutuza and Martínez scored for the visitors.

Three points more after the league break, obtained thanks to great collective work but with a lower margin than we deserved. During the first few minutes of the game Real Sociedad had clear ideas. But after their first goal, Athletic Club took the weight of the game with no goals at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Athletic’s superiority paid off, with amazing goals by Muniain and Aduriz followed by Williams’ goal. Iñigo Martínez pulled one back for la Real but Athletic held on for the win.
