Bilbao Athletic drew 3-3 with CD Izarra in the match corresponding to the 15th matchweek in the Second Division B Group II held at Lezama, getting rid of the nasty taste in the mouth that their defeat in Guijuelo left had last week. The Cubs maintain their second position in the standings, only behind UD Logroñés.

The contest turned in favour of the team managed by Joseba Etxeberria early in the game. Zarraga opened the scoring with a left-footed strike on 5 minutes, shooting from outside the box after Artola’s cross from the right had been cleared. With the peace of mind of their advantage, Bilbao Athletic imposed their playing style and set the pace of the game, although they did not have any other clear scoring chances before the break.

The second half has also witnessed a goal in the 5th minute, but this time it was CD Izarra who scored. Cabrera controlled with his chest a cross sent into the box, scoring an equaliser. Gorka Guruzeta was given more than half an hour on the pitch after substituting Salado in the first change made by Joseba Etxeberria. In less than 5 fateful minutes, before the 70th, Pablo Ruiz and Antonio scored their respective goals, which gave CD Izarra a comfortable margin. After the last goal, the match had to be interrupted due to a problem with a lighting pole. Córdoba and Prados were the last two substitutions spent in order to try to get a response, which arrived thanks to the final red-and-white constant pressure. On 85 minutes, Zarraga scored his brace and, on 87’, Artola netted the leveller, managing to scrap a well-deserved point under the pouring rain.

Next week, Bilbao Athletic will travel to Leioa for their derby at Sarriena in the match corresponding to the 16th matchweek, scheduled to kick off on Friday 6 December at 5.30 pm.
