Athletic Club was held to a 1-1 draw in Mestalla against Valencia CF. Alcacer put the home side in front after finishing off a pass from Feghouli, who was in an offside position. In the second half Feghouli himself committed a foul on Herrera resulting in a penalty, challenged hotly by the Valencia players, which Aduriz resolutely slotted home.

The first half belonged to Athletic with chances from Aduriz, Herrera (off the post) and De Marcos, while in the second half, especially after the equaliser, our team showed the courage necessary to ensure that the contest did not become one-sided.

One more point that maintains the gap between Athletic and Valencia, with eleven games still to play. The challenge that awaits them next is no walk in the park, since it involves a trip to Villarreal. Another clash that, hopefully, will allow us to face the championship end of season run-in from a top 4 league position.
