Athletic Club has taken another step further towards securing fourth place after beating Levante 2-1 at the Ciutat de Valencia with two goals from Aduriz and an own goal by San José for the home side. If that were not enough, they had the misfortune of putting a penalty wide when the game was still goalless.

However, Athletic overcame all setbacks, including the sprained ankle suffered by Mikel Rico and earned three very valuable points that keep them six points above fifth-placed Sevilla and bring them mathematically a little closer to qualifying for European competition next year.

The next challenge will be Malaga at 10:00 p.m. on Monday. The team, though, is ready for the final push.
