Athletic Club could not overcome RCD Espanyol in the first leg of the semifinal of the Cup held at San Mamés (1-1). Aduriz and Víctor Sánchez, both in the first half, were the goalscorers.
After a promising start, the goal by RCD Espanyol from their first shot at goal was a blow for the red-and-whites. Conversely, in the second half the visitors were unable to make anything of their best chances of scoring and the tie, despite the Catalans being the favourites, will be open on March 4.
In the meantime, they expect difficult meetings in the tight schedule, the first of which is in La Liga this Saturday against Granada CF.
