Athletic Club - Sevilla FC

Athletic Club defeated Sevilla FC 2-0 in San Mames. Two goals by Iñaki Williams, both of great beauty, have seen the team reach the mid-way point with 22 points after five consecutive La Liga matches without losing.

A deserved victory. In general, our team was superior. Clearly, every match is a different story, and today’s fixture says nothing about next Wednesday’s upcoming encounter.

Pressure at the right time and a strong defence allowed us to hurt Sevilla and Williams ended his home drought at the perfect moment: 100 consecutive matches in LaLiga.

In the first goal, he perfectly finished a ball running into space and the team held on well until half-time. 

The match was more even after half-time, but scoring past Herrerin was a very difficult challenge for Sevilla. 

Moreover, Williams still kept gasoline in his tank and in the 80th minute he ran more than 50 meters to kill off the match. A well-deserved win today, both individually and collectively.

After savouring the victory it is time to focus on the Copa against Sevilla and think about facing a Villarreal side fighting for safety.
