Athletic Club and Deportivo Alavés have tied for a 1-1 in San Mamés. Beñat Etxebarria, with a masterful free-kick, overtook our team and Borja Bastón evened the score before the break. With a draw in the last derby of the season, and with three rounds remaining, Athletic are three points ahead and with number of goals in favor of their most immediate rival.

Each team has had superiority in a time. In the first one, the Alavés has been more accurate, with greater percentage of divided conquered balls and more danger. Paradoxically, our team went ahead with Beñat’s goal, although it has not been able to reach the half-time advantage after Baston’s controversial goal on the stroke of the interval.

In the second half Athletic has been stronger, but with bad choices in the last pass and a rival who has threatened again almost at the end of the match. At the end of the 90 minutes, the tie does not allow us to go up in the classification, but the seventh place is still there, which will allow to play European qualifying rounds from next July. The first of the three finals to achieve it will be next Sunday in Pucela against Real Valladolid.
