The lions were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to Raúl García and Morcillo, but Eibar got the draw in the second half.
Athletic Club have drawn 2-2 with SD Eibar in the lions’ final friendly of the 2020-21 pre-season.
Goals by attacking-midfielder Raúl García and winger Jon Morcillo put Athletic Club two-nil up before the break.
But it was a story of two halves and Athletic conceded twice in the second half, including a late equaliser.
Iñigo Martínez, Unai López and Iñaki Williams made their first appearances of the pre-season, and coach Gaizka Garitano’s side took to the pitch looking to put on a good display ahead of the first LaLiga 2020-21 match against Granada.
Athletic took the lead in the 10th minute when Eibar keeper Yoel fumbled a Morcillo cross into the path of Raúl García, who pounced on the ball to open the accounts.
The opposition keeper was again at fault for the second. From a free-kick, Mikel Balenziaga laid off the ball to Morcillo who tried his luck from distance, Yoel could do little more than push the powerful shot into his own net.
Athletic came close to getting a third through captain Iker Muniain and then twice again through Iñaki Williams, one chance after a great diagonal pass from centre-back Iñigo Martínez.
In the second half, Eibar dominated the game. Garitano brought on Oihan Sancet in the 67th minute but three minutes later Quique González pulled one back for the visitors with a powerful left-footed shot.
Shortly after, striker Ewan Urain came on for Williams and Ewan almost set up a third for Athletic with a through-ball for Oscar De Marcos, but the right-back shot straight at the keeper.
Eibar got their equaliser in the 87th minute when a cross-shot by Pedro León took an unfortunate deflection of Ewan and ended up in the back of the Athletic net.
