Athletic Club have been defeated 1-0 by Deportivo Alavés at Mendizorroza. Theo Hernández scored the only goal of the match.

It is not the first time, nor will it be the last time that our team loses a match after doing enough to win it, nor do we rule out the opposite happening.

Today it happened again after a first half in which the game, the initiative and the chances were provided by the red and white team. However, they did not convert them into goals.

In the second half, the game started along the same lines, but after Hernández’s goal, Alaves’ good defensive work together with our inability to create clear chances generated a scenario in which the heart ended up ruling over the head.

With two games to go, everything is still up in the air, although the fight to preserve, at least, sixth place is expected to be fierce.

The penultimate stop of the European battle awaits us on Sunday at 20:00 at San Mamés against CD Leganés. Laporte will be absent due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
