Sancet scored the only goal of the friendly match against SD Ponferradina, which was full of tests
Athletic got the pre-season ball rolling in Urritxe with a 1-0 win over SD Ponferradina. Under a beautiful atmosphere, on the occasion of the centenary of SD Amorebieta, the Lions accumulated the first minutes, in an afternoon in which Valverde played players in different demarcations to the usual ones. The pre-season, logically, is for testing and accumulating the physical load.
Athletic struggled to score the first goal of the summer. It didn't come until the 36th minute, when Sancet got inside with the ball after being set up by Rego.
Oihan himself with a right-footed shot against the crossbar, Serrano, Canales and Izeta had added chances, but had not scored.
The second half had more liveliness in the game, with a more compact rival. The Berciano goalkeeper made two great saves from a header by Postal and a shot by Gorosabel after a Robert Navarro pass.
Ponfe barely troubled on one occasion, with Esquerdo's left-footed shot deflected wide by Padilla. Then Prados headed over from the edge of the area from Berenguer's cross.
It was a joy for the youngsters, who invaded the pitch at the end. It was also an unforgettable day for Amore director Gisasola, who received a beautiful tribute from his idol Iribar.
