A convincing win for Athletic in Laredo
The Lions beat Real Racing Club in the fifth match of Athletic’s pre-season
Athletic produced a solid performance to defeat Racing Club Santander 0-3 at the San Lorenzo ground in Laredo.
San Lorenzo was packed to the rafters with hundreds of Athleticzales making the short trip over to Laredo to watch the Rojiblancos secure victory.
Athletic were dominant throughout the first half, creating numerous chances and didn’t take them long to open the scoring. Robert Navarro hit the post early on and in the tenth minute Gorka Guruzeta made it 0-1 after capitalising on a brilliant Peio Canales assist following a superb high press.
Guruzeta then struck the woodwork moments later, whilst Alex Berenguer and Navarro also went close to scoring the second. Suleiman Camara had Racing’s best chance with a shot that grazed Alex Padilla’s crossbar.
Athletic kept the upper hand after the break thanks to the introduction of some fresh legs. Oihan Sancet and Johaneko Louis-Jean scored the remaining goals in the closing stages.
A convincing victory for Athletic, who next face Burgos CF at El Plantío on Saturday.
