Atalanta BC - Athletic Club

Athletic Club ended their 2026/27 pre-season with a 1-0 defeat against Atalanta BC at the Stadio di Bergamo.

The only goal of the game was scored by Nicola Zalewski just after the restart. However, despite the scoreline, the Lions produced a solid and promising display.

The start was evenly matched for both teams but Athletic looked especially strong at the back, conceding very few chances to the Italian side.

At the other end, Maroan Sannadi was active in the team’s build-up play, contributing effectively.

Athletic team played well, but the effort failed to translate into clear-cut chances on the opposition’s goal, with scores remaining level at the break.

The Italians were better after restart, with Zalewski scoring a great solo effort in the 46th minute, but the Lions pushed hard to get back into the game.

Adama Boiro, after a fine run down the left wing, sent in a superb cross that Maroan just failed to get on the end of.

In the end, Edin Terzić’s side came away empty-handed and their 2026/27 pre-season came to a close with a defeat at the Stadio di Bergamo. 

The friendlies are over, and now it’s time for the real thing. On 22 August at 17:00 CEST, Athletic will host Sevilla FC as the Edin Terzić era gets underway in LaLiga.
