Athletic fall to late goal against Atletico
A stoppage-time goal from Correa sunk Athletic in a game which the Lions were close to winning

Athletic Club lost 0-1 to Atletico Madrid after Angel Correa scored a 92nd minute goal on the counter-attack. The Lions were looking more likely to win in the final stretch but fell to Correa's gut-wrenching strike.
Despite the quality of opponents in front of them, Ernesto Valverde's team took the bull by the horns and controlled the ball decisively.
Julián Álvarez thought he was in early on, but Yuri Berchiche slid in front to block the Argentinian's shot. Diego Simeone's side struggled under the Athletic press and their only other chance was a Conor Gallagher effort.
Just after the start of the second half, Nico Williams had a goal disallowed for offside after being played in by his brothers. He was inches off and it took too long to be flagged.
It seemed like Los Leones might find a winner late on as subsitutes Mikel Jauregizar and Unai Gómez drove the side foward. However, Correa showed no mercy when he found himself alone with Julen Agirrezabala.
Moments later, in a similar situation, Julen stopped Alexander Sorloth from making it 0-2.
It's time to recharge our batteries over the international break. In the last two fixtures, Athletic have started to look more like last season's team. A year without losing at San Mames until tonight is a great record.
